HACT’s Hillcrest Hospice 24-bed In-Patient Unit, fondly called Othandweni or “Place of Love,” offers round-the-clock respite and palliative care to both children and adults battling advanced stages of AIDS or cancer. As the only facility of its kind in KwaZulu-Natal, Othandweni stands as a beacon of hope for those who are critically ill and unable to access mainstream healthcare services.

Based in the heart of Hillcrest, more than 240 patients find comfort and care within our Hospice Unit every year. Under the compassionate guidance of our dedicated team of caregivers, nurses, and doctors, patients receive personalised treatment in a nurturing environment.

For those who recover, we provide intensive adherence counselling and ongoing support through our Patient Home Visit programme, ensuring their health and recovery are carefully monitored. For those in need of end-of-life care, our Hospice unit offers a dignified, peaceful environment where they are surrounded by care and compassion during their final moments.
