EMPOWERMENT

Turning Skills into Strength, and Hope into Independence

Care, Compassion, and Change. We provide holistic care for those facing life-limiting illnesses like HIV/AIDS and cancer. Crucially, we then invest in Empowerment—turning skills into strength and hope into independence for families and communities to break the cycle of poverty.

The fundamental catalyst

Investing in human potential

Empowerment is the fundamental catalyst for lasting change and community resilience. At HACT, we don’t just offer aid; we invest in human potential.

Our holistic empowerment programmes are designed to provide real, sustainable opportunities for income generation, entrepreneurship, and self-reliance. Every initiative, from detailed craftwork to intensive business training, is a deliberate, measurable step toward financial stability, restored dignity, and long-term community impact.

Creativity with Purpose, Commerce with Heart

Woza Moya

Our multi-award-winning Woza Moya craft initiative is a vibrant economic engine supporting over 500 local artists and crafters—predominantly women—from the Valley of 1000 Hills. Each piece of beadwork, sculpture, or meticulously crafted item is more than art; it is a tangible expression of resilience, creativity, and self-made pride.

Through dedicated craft training, business mentorship, and guaranteed international market access, Woza Moya transforms incredible local talent into sustainable household income.

Crafters not only earn a dignified living but also gain the confidence and resources necessary to educate their children, improve their housing, and become economic anchors for their extended families.

The Power of Self-Reliance

More Than a Handout, It's a Hand Up.

Our programmes are strategically designed to create lasting financial independence. We measure success not just by income generated, but by the confidence, skills, and dignity gained, ensuring community members are equipped to build futures that are sustainable and self-determined.

Second-Hand Clothes, First-Class Opportunities

HACT Clothing Scheme

Our Clothing Scheme is a foundational social enterprise that empowers vulnerable local women impacted by HIV/AIDS with vital income-generating opportunities and essential skills development.

This initiative transforms donated clothing into a powerful economic tool. Unemployed women receive training and are then given the opportunity to generate income through the sale of quality, second-hand clothing within their own communities.

The scheme provides these women with a sustainable way to financially support themselves and their families, fostering self-reliance and restoring dignity. A direct action that helps families move from dependence to independence.

“My life is so different now thanks to this project. I am able to buy food and school uniforms for my children. I now have hope for my future where before there was only darkness…”
