Education is one of the most powerful tools for breaking the cycle of poverty and inequality. At HACT, we believe that when young people are given access to learning, mentorship, and opportunity, they gain the confidence to change not only their own lives, but the lives of those around them.
Our education and mentorship programmes are designed to nurture more than just students; they cultivate the next generation of leaders, critical thinkers, and changemakers. We provide young people with both the academic skills and the emotional resilience—the head and the heart—required to confidently navigate their future, break cycles of vulnerability, and actively build a better future for their communities.
Our Siyathuthukisa Digital Learning and Life Skills Programme is designed to equip youth and young adults with the essential skills for the modern economy. Participants receive hands-on training in core computer literacy (including Microsoft Office and professional communication) alongside crucial life skills such as goal setting and personal development.
The Sinovuyo Parenting Programme strengthens communities by building resilient families by providing them with critical skills. Through structured, small-group sessions, participants learn practical tools for positive discipline, emotional connection, and effective communication, thereby strengthening relationships across generations.
Beyond formal learning, HACT’s programmes empower young people with the practical business and financial skills necessary for self-reliance and independence. These initiatives transform creative ideas into sustainable livelihoods by offering training that covers everything from basic business management and budgeting to enterprise development.
We provide youth with accurate, evidence-based information and skills to reduce their vulnerability to HIV. This includes education on safe practices, testing, adherence, and stigma reduction, fostering a generation that is knowledgeable and responsible about their sexual health and the wellbeing of others.
We cultivate emotional intelligence, resilience, and effective communication skills among young people. This training equips them to serve as compassionate peer leaders, helping classmates manage stress, navigate difficult emotions, and build a strong network of mutual support and positive influence.
Our workshops address the root causes of gender-based violence, promoting principles of equality, respect, and consent. Participants learn how to identify abusive behaviours, intervene safely as bystanders, and foster healthy, equitable relationships within their schools and homes.
Participants are introduced to basic financial literacy, goal setting, and introductory entrepreneurial concepts. This essential training empowers them to envision a successful future, understand the importance of financial independence, and begin developing the skills needed for self-employment and career longevity.
